So, out of all of the sororities on The College of New Jersey campus, why should you join Sigma Sigma Sigma? Here are our Top 5 Reasons for joining our sorority, the Zeta Psi chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.
"Sisters touch your heart in ways no other could. Sisters share... their hopes, their fears, their love, everything they have. Real friendship springs from their special bonds."
Carrie Bagwell
5. Leadership Opportunities
While in Tri Sigma, every sister gets the opportunity to take on various leadership positions. From being a member of the Officer Team to heading our annual philanthropy event to being in charge of handing out sisterhood awards at chapter, every sister takes on the responsibility of an event or activity that makes us who we are and contributes to the sorority in one way or another.
"Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there."
Amy Li
4. Community Service and Philanthropy
We are all about giving back to the community and supporting the community. Each year, we raise money for our national philanthropy through various events including Miss TCNJ, Rockin' for Robbie, and selling Trenton Thunder tickets and 50/50s. At the same time, we support other organizations' philanthropies by participating in their events such as Kappa Delta's Shamrockin' Runway and Theta Phi Alpha's Autumn Angel. Additionally, we always have a team at Relay for Life to raise money and awareness for cancer research and volunteer to make and serve food at the Ronald McDonald House. These are just a few of the events we participate in to better our community.
"Sisters are connected throughout their lives by a special bond... whether they try to ignore it or not. For better or for worse, sisters remain sisters, until death do them part."
Brigid McConville
3. Campus and Community Involvement
By joining Sigma Sigma Sigma, you become involved not only on The College of New Jersey campus but in the surrounding community. When you join, so many connections are open to get to know other members of the Greek community as well as the TCNJ campus as a whole. Through various events held throughout the year, you are introduced not only to undergraduates, but professors and professionals that open up doors for networking. We also are involved with Community Fest which allows us to get to know the residents of Ewing a bit better; we are, after all, living in a wonderful town filled with wonderful people.
"There's a special kind of freedom sisters enjoy. Freedom to share innermost thoughts, to ask a favor, to show their true feelings. The freedom to simply be themselves."
2. Getting to Know Yourself
When a young woman joins Sigma Sigma Sigma, she continues her journey to get to know herself better. Simply by taking the leap to get to know a sorority and join it, you are getting to know yourself just a bit better. Sisters have discovered who they are and matured beyond measure during their time in Sigma. And you have sisters there for you the entire step of the way for support and love.
"My sisters are so much more than just my best friends. They're the women I'll share the rest of my life with. They are my bridesmaids, the Godmothers of my future children, the people I'll call to share my midlife crisis with, and the crazy ladies I'll be rolling around the nursing homes with. My sisters will share my entire life with me, not just the next few years of college. There are just some people in life who make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger, and live a little better. And for me, those people are my Tri-Sigma sisters."
1. Sisterhood
In Tri Sigma, you become a part of a family. The girls you meet aren't just your best friends. Aren't just there when you need them. Aren't just people you go to the movies with or make dinner with. They are all that and more. They are sisters. And we rely on each other just like we would rely on members of our families. The bonds we make with each other extend beyond going through recruitment together, beyond classes shared, beyond the four years of colleges. These are the girls who will be at our weddings. Who will be the godmothers to our children. We are a group of sisters.
